The European olive is a long-lived, evergreen tree 6-8m tall, which with its light gray, smooth bark and silvery-green leaves is a special decorative element in any garden. It flowers in May. Its fruit is the familiar olive, which is eaten while still green but later turns black when ripe. It loves hot sun and is not fussy about soil. It tolerates drought well. It is sensitive to frost, but its winter hardiness extends to -10°C. A perfect choice as a container plant, so that when winter comes we can move it to a safe place.
